Why I named you after Breckenridge

My favorite picture hanging in my house.

we are called to ascend to the highest Mountain

“It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and it shall be lifted up above the hills; and peoples shall flow to it, and many nations shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between many peoples, and shall decide disputes for strong nations far away; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore; but they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid, for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken. For all the peoples walk each in the name of its god, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.”

Heb 12:22 niv

“But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.”

It’s a map of Breckinridge- the city Breckan was named after. Even though ski slopes in Breckinridge are par to none- in my book- her name came from the picture of what the Rocky Mountains symbolized to me.

Seeing he eminence of Gods glory in the spectacular mountain ranges made me feel so intimately connected to a God that would want to share a glimpse of his beauty on earth with us. A picture of His fulfilled promises and the unity we will have with Him on this earth and in Heaven.

The verse Psalms 43: 3-4

Send me your light and your faithful care,
    let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy mountain,
    to the place where you dwell.
Then I will go to the altar of God,
    to God, my joy and my delight.

This verse is my prayer for you my sweet Breck. That you would discover His truth by His Spirit. That you would see the promises of God and trust them with your life. I pray that His direction of His providence would lead you to His presence- a place of worship- only there is where your heart will be at rest.

On this mountain He gave me a vision of the home He will establish for the girls and I in Isaiah 58: 10-12.

“These I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; .. for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples. And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be watered like a garden. And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; and you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of the streets to dwell in.

Thank you @mapiful for this gift I cherish so much!

Commentary:

Here David regards the Divine favour as the fountain of all the good he looked for. In the Saviour's name let us One word from him will calm every storm, and turn midnight darkness into the light of noon, the bitterest complaints into joyful praises. Our believing expectation of mercy must quicken our prayers for it. always know to be still in the place He dwells- to trust in the name of the Lord, and to stay herself upon her God. He adds, And my God; this thought enabled him to triumph over all his griefs and fears. Let us never think that the God of our life, and the Rock of our salvation, has forgotten us, if we have made his mercy, truth, and power. Let us learn to check all unbelief- apply the promise first to ourselves, and then plead it to God.

these I will bring to my holy mountain
    and give them joy in my house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and sacrifices
    will be accepted on my altar;
for my house will be called
    a house of prayer for all nations.”
The Sovereign Lord declares—
    he who gathers the exiles of Israel:
“I will gather still others to them
    besides those already gathered.”

This is such an awesome piece of Scripture that describes the imagery of a future time when “the mountain of the LORD” and “the house of the God of Jacob” will be a holy place for all the diverse people groups from every nation and of every ethnicity, worshipping God and learning the ways of His wisdom – Amen!

Mountains are scenic. Mountains are a destination. Mountains are majestic. If you’ve ever taken a road trip through the Smoky Mountains in northeastern Tennessee, camped out under the stars amongst the Alps in Switzerland, or skied down the bunny slopes of the Canadian Rockies you

Mountains are also symbolic. Mountains represent the quest for knowledge, the pinnacle of achievement, the proverbial goal or journey to something great. Looking beyond Bible verses about mountains and examining cultural references, mountains can represent the blessing of accomplishment or the curse of defeat.

A life changing pilgrimage in one way or another. The famous Christian author J.R.R Tolkien infused his fantastical creations, most notably, ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ with well known rocky landscapes such as The Misty Mountains or Lonely Mountain. For Tolkien, mountains were a central metaphor to building his character’s traits while showing off their humanity within the full spectrum of human emotions while scaling their lofty challenge.

The journey, in comparison with the destination is at the very least on par with the destination! For it’s the journey, our sanctification that forms and transforms us.

And gifts were given to men, even the once rebellious, so that they may dwell with Yah. What a glorious God! He gives us salvation over and over, then daily he carries our burdens! Pause in his presence”

““Son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel and tell them, ‘Mountains of Israel, hear the word of Yahweh. Lord Yahweh says to you: Your enemies have gloated over you by saying: “At last! Now we own these ancient high places!” ’ Therefore, hear the word of Lord Yahweh, you Mountains of Israel! Lord Yahweh has a message for the mountains and hills, the ravines and valleys, the devastated ruins and abandoned cities that have been ransacked by your enemies and ridiculed by all the nations around you. Therefore, Lord Yahweh says to you: Truly, I speak in my jealous anger against the rest of the nations and to the entire land of Edom. You gleefully and maliciously took possession of my land so that you could plunder its fertile pasturelands.’ “Therefore Ezekiel, prophesy over the land of Israel, its mountains and hills, its ravines and valleys. Prophesy to them what I, Lord Yahweh, have to say: ‘Behold, I speak in my fiery passion because you have endured the vile insults of the nations. “ ‘Mountains of Israel, your trees will once again grow branches and bear fruit for my people the Israelites. For they will soon return home. Yes, I am for you and on your side; I will turn my heart toward you. Farmers will plow your ground and plant their seeds. Israel, I will make the population of all your tribes to increase, yes, throughout the land. Your ruined cities will be rebuilt and people will live in them again. I will increase your population, both human and animal, and they will increase and prosper. I will bring people to settle on you as in the past, and I will bless you more than ever before. And then you will know that I am Yahweh. O land of Israel, I will again settle my people on you. They will possess you as their inheritance, and never again will you deprive them of their children. “ ‘This is what I, Lord Yahweh, say: People say about you, “You devour people and have robbed your nation of its children.” But you will devour people no longer nor make your nation childless again, says Lord Yahweh. “Son of man, the Israelites defiled their own land when they lived there. In my eyes, their conduct was as unclean as a woman’s menstruation. But I have been greatly concerned about my holy name, which the people of Israel have dishonored among the nations where they have gone. I am going to magnify the holiness of my great name, which you have greatly dishonored before the eyes of foreign nations. And when I magnify my holiness in you before their eyes, the nations will know that I am Yahweh. I, Lord Yahweh, have spoken.’ ” “ ‘I will take you from every nation and country and bring you back home to your own land. I will sprinkle purifying water over you, and you will be cleansed from all the filth of your past. I will wash you clean from the defilement of worshiping false gods. I will graciously give you a new, tender heart and put a new, willing spirit inside you. I will remove your hard heart of stone and give you an obedient, responsive heart instead. I will put my Holy Spirit in you to empower you to keep my laws and to live by them. You will live in the land that I gave your ancestors. You will be my people, and I will be your God. I will save you from everything impure within you. I will call for the grain of the field to become plentiful and not allow famine to afflict you. I will increase the produce of fruit and field so that you will never again bear the disgrace of famine among the nations. People of Israel, I assure you that it is not because you are good that I am going to do all this. You should be utterly ashamed over your conduct! I, Lord Yahweh, have spoken.’ “Lord Yahweh says: ‘When I cleanse you from all your guilt and shame, I will cause your ruined cities to be rebuilt and repopulated again. You will once more farm your barren land. It will not be abandoned anymore, and everyone who passes by will notice it. And they will say: “Look how this once barren land is now like the garden of Eden! All those empty, abandoned cities left in ruins are now strongholds, restored cities with people living in them.” And the nations around you will know that I, Yahweh, have rebuilt the ruined places and replanted what was once desolate. I, Yahweh, make this promise and will do it.’ “Lord Yahweh says: ‘People of Israel, as a sign of my favor, I will once again answer your prayers. I will cause your population to increase until you are like a large flock of sheep. You will be as numerous as the huge flock of sacrificial animals in Jerusalem during her solemn feasts. Your cities that were once filled with rubble will be filled with flocks of people. And then you will know that I am Yahweh.’ ””

“Can’t you hear the voice of Wisdom? From the top of the mountains of influence she speaks into the gateways of the glorious city. At the place where pathways merge, at the entrance of every portal, there she stands, ready to impart understanding, shouting aloud to all who enter, preaching her sermon to those who will listen. “I’m calling to you, sons of Adam, yes, and to you daughters as well. Listen to me and you will be prudent and wise. For even the foolish and feeble can receive an understanding heart that will change their inner being. The meaning of my words will release within you revelation for you to reign in life. My lyrics will empower you to live by what is right. For everything I say is unquestionably true, and I refuse to endure the lies of lawlessness— my words will never lead you astray. All the declarations of my mouth can be trusted; they contain no twisted logic or perversion of the truth. All my words are clear and straightforward to everyone who possesses spiritual understanding. If you have an open mind, you will receive revelation-knowledge. My wise correction is more valuable than silver or gold. The finest gold is nothing compared to the revelation-knowledge I can impart.” Wisdom is so priceless that it exceeds the value of any jewel. Nothing you could wish for can equal her. “For I am Wisdom, and I am shrewd and intelligent. I have at my disposal living-understanding to devise a plan for your life. Wisdom pours into you when you begin to hate every form of evil in your life, for that’s what worship and fearing God is all about. Then you will discover that your pompous pride and perverse speech are the very ways of wickedness that I hate!””

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.”
